about
Hi, I’m Che. I’m a Brooklyn-based filmmaker.
I cut my teeth shooting and editing documentary and educational programs for PhotoSynthesis Productions in Ithaca, NY before moving to the unceded territory of the Lenape in 2007.
Recently, I served as director of photography for the Ryan Brothers' Sci-Fi/Horror feature WELCOME TO WILLITS, SubRosa's music video for TROUBLED CELLS, and Aria Jay’s visual album GROWTH.
CIVIL WARRIORS, a feature film I co-directed with Deborah Hoard won Best Narrative Feature - Drama at the Long Beach Indie International Film Festival in 2016. The film weaves staged spoken word performances with documentary elements to create a unique, lyrical take on the often-ignored history of the United States Colored Troops who served in the American Civil War.
I also keep busy in camera departments on award-winning programs like FINDING YOUR ROOTS, GOSPEL, and FREDERICK DOUGLASS: IN FIVE SPEECHES, and independent films like THEY REMAIN, ALREADY TOMORROW IN HONG KONG, and THE EXPLODING GIRL. I’ve been lucky to work with talented mentors and peers like Eric Lin, Josh Silfen, Rachel Morrison, Bianca Butti, and Bradford Young.
As an editor and motion graphics artist, I’ve worked on seven on-air promo campaigns for the MTV VMAs, five campaigns for the MTV Movie Awards (now the MTV Movie and TV Awards), and various other projects at Great City Post, in NYC.
Currently, I teach a variety of media classes at BRIC Arts Media, I'm busy writing a musical, abolitionist, prestige animation project, and I’m developing a new transmedia project with fellow filmmaker Nicole Solomon of 4Mile Circus.
